HP Update (Week 2)

Another week has gone by and at the end of Week 2, Sunday 02.05.10, I weighed 75.8kg with 42.0% body fat. Which means in the two weeks, I have lost 3.2kg and 1.5% body fat. The figures may seem small but I am forever grateful. Overall body measurements have also reduced especially the waist and hips area. Summary of week 2. Managed to eat 3 meals plus average of 9 snacks per day. Monday to Friday was ok, since its working week, but I have to admit that towards the weekend, programme went a bit hay wire. Actually, on Friday, my weight was 75.2kg with 41.8% body fat but Friday evening went to Cheez Box and ‘had’ to nibble on the deserts which the kids ordered. Then to end the week, my brother treated us to Sunday morning Dim Sum.. But its ok, I’m back on track now and hopefully will lose more in Week 3.

I have received several emails/comments asking me about this HP programe. So if anyone is interested, do email me and I’ll be happy to explain further..

Here’s a summary of my weight and body fat so far

Start: 19 April – 79.0kg / 43.5%

End of Week 1: 25 April – 76.5kg / 42.4%

End of Week 2: 02 May – 75.8kg / 42.0%

Total loss in 2 weeks: -3.2kg / -1.5%

HP Update (Week 1)

Salam~

This is a continuation of my earlier post here. Actually it was put on private earlier but no more :)  This post is not meant to be a show off or anything but just to share with fellow readers who are trying to lose those extra Kgs but don’t know how *like myself* So if you are interested, do read on…

This will mostly be about my progress so far whilst on the 6 weeks HP programme~

Week 1 (19 April to 25 April 2010)

Day 1 – Monday, 19th April 2010, first day of my HP programme. Morning weighed myself with a whooping 79.0kg and 43.5% body fat. Yup I know very bad…  *Ni mesti pasal the day before (Sunday) berabis makan which I’m sure my coach will disapprove since it was supposed to be preparation day* lol. Anyway my first day went quiet well, with 3 meals plus 7 snacks, yes you read that right, 7 snacks. I have also bought a box of mineral water to put in my office.

Day 2 – Weighed myself again. We were asked to weigh ourselves everyday in the morning. When I stepped on my Tanita Weighing Scale, 78.0kg and body fat 43.1%. Lost 1kg in 1 day, macam inda pecaya saja. Day 2 had the same 3 meals and added extra 2 snacks making it total 9 snacks. I had to put an alarm on my iphone so that it beeps every hour. This will remind me to take my snacks.

Day 3 – Stepped on the scale and tadaaa.. 77.5kg and 42.8% body fat. Now I’m really excited. I have added green tea to my diet without sugar of course and had 3 meals plus 9 snacks.

Day 477.0kg  and 42.6% body fat. I am now starting to love this programme. It allows you to eat. Sometimes, I’m the one yang sampai malas kan makan, afraid that I’ll gain weight. But the programme states that the more you snack, the more you’ll lose weight. Great isn’t it. All this while, I have tried some other diets which forbids me to snack on anything but plain water. How I wish I found HP earlier.

Day 5 – Guess what? yes turun lagi. 76.7kg and 42.5% body fat. Ok I have a confession. I have not been in the ’76′ for past one year!!. So you can just imagine my excitement. As usual, had 3 meals and 9 snacks. I even snack just before I go to sleep.

Day 676.7kg and 42.5% body fat. No change in weight but its okay. I’m still happy that I’m finally in the 76ss. Muizz on the other hand is also doing extremely well. This is because he works out unlike myself yang malas. The husband has also joined us with the programme and he is also losing weight! Day 6 is saturday which means eat out day. So for lunch we went to Au Lait. Read my post here. First time ordered salad hehe~ Then in the evening was invited to a BBQ. I was worried. Cemana ni? So before we left for the BBQ, I had my meal no. 3. Luckily I could control myself and not makan all the good stuff. I just took some fruits and a bite of the chocolate cake *nyaman*.

Day 7 – One week on the programme. Eagerly weighed myself in the morning and yeayyy 76.5kg and 42.4% body fat. Although just 0.2kg since the day before, I am still happy. Takut sudah pasal makan-makan the day before. Oh yes, went for a morning jog (6km as per our Nike+) with the husband around JP area. *I must jog more*

Overall one week in the programme, I lost 2.5kg and 1.1% body fat which I think is such an achievement for me yang payah kan turun berat badan. I was not hungry all day and felt just great. By the way, Muizz and I took measurements before we started this programme and again after one week. Yup so  so excited, inches fading away slowly but a bit jealous sebab Muizz lost more inches~ so another reason for the mama to exercise more!

So what do I think of the programme so far? Fantastic. This is a 6 week programme and I’m aiming for at least 7 to 10kg weight loss in this 6 week cycle. For the record, I need to lose about 20kgs! to reach my ideal weight. I still have a long long way to go but I aim to reach there. And most importantly and the best part is that I get to eat real food (yes real food as in chicken, fish, veggies, fruits, etc.. ) and not meal replacements, shakes, powders and all… I hope to add in exercises to my programme but I just don’t have the time *hehe another alasan*. Anyway, I used to go to the gym and join aerobics for 3 to 4 days a week and I have never managed to lose any weight.  If I did, I will only gain them back again. But that’s no excuse to not exercise :) No words can express how I feel after losing 2.5kg in one week’s time…. do I sound excited? you bet I am..

HP

Actually I’m in the office and in the middle of doing office work when suddenly macam kan blogging tah pulang.

I wanna blog about this new *thing* i’m doing. I’ll keep this blog private in the meantime and will only make it public when it really really works for me. What I’m going to share with you is a Health Program that can help you achieve your ideal weight. Lets just call it HP for the time being. First I heard about this from my son Muizz. A friend of his buat this program and managed to lose weight. Yup, losing weight has been an issue for me.. and I will try just about anything hehe…  So back to HP, I decided to attend the seminar with Buaming which was held at the ICC last Wednesday, 30th March. The presentation was made by Wana who herself follows the program and managed to lose her excess weight..  I was amazed and really excited. Kalau bulih tah awal atu jua kan start, walaupun I still do not know what it is all about.

Before the presentation, we were weighed and our body fat%, water %, visceral fat, etc. were calculated and we were explained on what the figures meant. And yes as expected, my figures for all of the above are way beyond the norms.. Health Point is all about eating. I’m sure a lot of you either skip your breakfast or lunch or dinner sebab konon kan diet. I never have breakfast, reason being that I don’t have time. The most I will have is a cup of tea upon reaching the office. Sometimes I skip lunch as well, konon kan kurangkan berat badan.  But now I know that I am wrong. Skipping meals will actually do the opposite. The more you don’t eat, the more your body holds on to your fats and never lets it go. This is because your body is scared that you will not eat and therefore holds on to whatever you have. Simply put, you should never put your body into starvation mode. Alternatively, if you eat often (the correct kind of foods of course), then the body will use whatever you just fed her because she knows that you will be feeding her again in a while. That’s why this HP Program requires us to eat 3 meals a day plus minimum 3 snacks a day. The more snacks the better. The 3 meals should be about 4 to 5 hours apart whilst snacks can be taken every hour.

After the presentation, immediately I told Muizz to set up an appointment with Wana (the Coach) because I wanted to start as soon as possible. Hehe semangat.. So last night, Wana came with another friend and Muizz and myself were explained in detailed on how to go about the program. Muizz is joining me on this program so that we can *beri semangat* each other. So ladies and gentlemen, Muizz and mamanya will officially start on the HP programe this Friday, 16th April 2010.

Wish us luck and I hope my next post on this issue will be a positive one…

Before, I sign off, thank you to Wana for being our COACH and the detailed explanations last night and also beli HSNSTUFF tudongs hehe..

Blood Pressure

I received this chart in my email and thought I’d share it here in my blog.

BP ChartAnd this is my reading this morning…

BP

BP2

And the numbers does not seem to be good. I fall under the ‘Pre-Hypertension’ category. Here’s an article I found from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. I have just included the important points so if you want to read the whole thing, please go their website NHLBI. It’s kinda long but worth reading…

    Key Points

  • High blood pressure (HBP) is a serious condition that can lead to coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, and other health problems.
  • “Blood pressure” is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. When this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage the body in many ways.
  • Blood pressure numbers include systolic and diastolic pressures. Systolic blood pressure is the pressure when the heart beats while pumping blood. Diastolic blood pressure is the pressure when the heart is at rest between beats.
  • All blood pressure levels above 120/80 mmHg increase your risk for the health problems related to HBP. A blood pressure level of 140/90 mmHg or higher is considered HBP for most adults. If you have diabetes or chronic kidney disease, a blood pressure of 130/80 mmHg or higher is considered HBP.
  • Blood pressure tends to rise with age. Certain medical problems and medicines may cause blood pressure to rise. In some women, blood pressure can go up if they use birth control pills, become pregnant, or take hormone replacement therapy.
  • Children younger than 10 years who have HBP often have another condition that’s causing it (such as kidney disease). Treating the underlying condition may resolve HBP.
  • In the United States, about 72 million people have HBP. This is about 1 in 3 adults. Certain traits, conditions, or habits may raise your risk for HBP. These include older age, race/ethnicity, overweight or obesity, gender, unhealthy lifestyle habits, a family history of HBP, long-lasting stress, and having prehypertension (blood pressure levels between 120–139/80–89).
  • HBP itself usually has no symptoms. Rarely, headaches may occur. Some people only learn that they have HBP after it causes health problems, such as coronary heart disease, stroke, or kidney failure.
  • Your doctor will diagnose HBP using the results of a blood pressure test. This test is easy and painless. It may be done several times to make sure the results are correct.
  • Doctors measure blood pressure in children and teens the same way they do in adults. However, the ranges for normal blood pressure and HBP are different for youth than for adults. These ranges are based on the average blood pressure levels for a child or teen’s age, gender, and height.
  • HBP in adults and children is treated with lifestyle changes and medicines. Lifestyle changes include following a healthy eating plan, doing enough physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, quitting smoking, and managing and coping with stress.
  • If you have normal blood pressure, you can take steps to prevent or delay HBP. Healthy lifestyle habits can help you maintain normal blood pressure.
  • If you have HBP, you can take steps to prevent the long-term problems it can cause. Adopt healthy lifestyle habits and follow the treatment plan your doctor prescribes. Children and teens can prevent HBP and its related problems in the same ways.

Ok here’s the scary part….

High blood pressure is called the silent killer because it usually has no symptoms. Some people may not find out they have it until they have trouble with their heart, brain, or kidneys. When high blood pressure is not found and treated, it can cause:

  • The heart to get larger, which may lead to heart failure .
  • Small bulges to form in blood vessels. Common locations are the  main artery from the heart (aorta); arteries in the brain, legs, and intestines; and the artery leading to the spleen.
  • Blood vessels in the kidney to narrow, which may cause kidney failure .

Therefore, knowing your blood pressure numbers is important, even when you’re feeling fine. If your blood pressure is normal, you can work with your health care team to keep it that way. If your numbers are too high, you can take steps to lower them and control your blood pressure. This helps reduce your risk for complications.

Muizz-before & after

Presenting my son Muizz. Hehe.. I made this picture of him as a comparison just yesterday and asked him if mama kan post it up. I’ve been telling him that he looks ‘slim’ or should I say ‘muscular’ masa ani and only after seeing this picture baru ia terasa. Mama’s really proud of your achievement Ez… The picture of Muizz wearing the orange t-shirt was taken just this wednesday (6 Jan) and the one on the left was taken last July 2009. Please note that these pictures have not been edited/modified/photoshop-ed or whatsoever. As per Muizz, he is still trying to lose more so watch out for the next update!

Muizz has lost an incredible amount of fat/weight (more than 10kgs! ) within past couple of months through fitness and nutrition. He has reduced his rice intake and completely watch what he puts into his mouth. Of course there are times when he does indulge in *junk food* but limited.

His favourite activities since his interests in fitness are going to the gym, hiking, swimming, running which eventually lead him to set up his website bodyku.com. He also loves to train individuals who are serious in trying to get fit and healthly, in other words, lose those extra kilos.

Ok I’ll just make this post short and simple since I just wanted to post the above picture. So if anyone is interested to be trained by Muizz, you can contact him directly. But be prepared for intense work out indoor & outdoor at least 5 times a week!

Muizz has also set out a plan/programe for his Mama and his Mama is trying hard to follow them strictly. Lets hope that his Mama can also achieve some positive results :)
